COVID-19 has not disappeared. Last week, according to the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), authorities recorded 248 cases — 132 more than the previous week. Of the total, children aged up to 14 accounted for 67 cases, a 59.5% increase compared to the week of July 28 – August 3.
“Although the number of cases is rising nationwide, the recorded figures do not indicate an alarming situation. However, it is necessary to intensify epidemiological surveillance and apply appropriate prevention and response measures to limit the spread of the infection,” the NPHA specialists explained.
Measures recommended by the NPHA:
- Keep a safe distance from others to reduce the risk of virus transmission.
- Avoid crowded places by limiting participation in events or visits to busy spaces.
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water, or use disinfectant.
- Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing, dispose of the tissue immediately, and clean your hands.
- Ventilate enclosed spaces regularly at the workplace.
- Get vaccinated against COVID-19, including receiving recommended booster doses, to ensure maximum protection against severe forms of the disease.
- Monitor your health, stay alert to new symptoms, and contact your family doctor if any appear, even if mild.
- Stay informed from official sources about the evolution of the infection and updated protection measures to respond promptly and appropriately to any changes.
