Moldova attracted more than 222,000 tourists in the first six months of 2025—10,000 more than in the same period in 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, reported IPN.
“More and more visitors are choosing Moldova: over 222,000 tourists came in the first half of the year,” said Government spokesperson Daniel Voda.
Tourist pensions, agrotourism, hotels, and vacation camps saw the biggest increases. On average, each visitor stayed nearly four days.
Half of the tourists came from neighboring countries, with Ukraine accounting for 34.5% and Romania for 20.3%. Other visitors came from the USA, Turkey, Germany, Israel, Italy, Poland, the UK, and France.

Chisinau hosted over 70% of arrivals, while the Central and Northern regions each received about one-fifth of tourists. The South and Gagauzia attracted smaller numbers.
Authorities attribute the growing interest to domestic tourism, promotion of pensions and rural areas, local hospitality, and diversified tourism offerings.
