In Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, protesters have continued their demonstrations for 309 days. During one of them, they displayed the flag of the Republic of Moldova as a symbol of resistance against pro-Russian forces and Vladimir Putin’s regime. Protesters in other cities also continue to mobilize and prepare for a massive demonstration scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, 2025, in response to the political crisis.

Protesters accuse the government of rigging last year’s parliamentary elections, arresting key opposition leaders and critics of Russia, and suspending Georgia’s candidacy for EU membership. The Georgian government adopted a law similar to Russia’s, which labels independent media and non-governmental organizations as “agents of foreign influence.” It also intensified trade relations with Russia and refused to join international sanctions imposed after the large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The pro-Russian ruling party, Georgian Dream, refused to congratulate the pro-European PAS party for its parliamentary election victory in the Republic of Moldova. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of Georgian Dream, explained: “As long as Moldova remains a member of the CIS, it is difficult for us to congratulate them. We will wait for Moldova to leave the CIS, and then we will reconsider the issue of congratulations.”
