The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, signed today, October 17, the Decree on convening the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of the 12th Legislature.
According to the presidential decree, the first meeting of the new Parliament will take place on Wednesday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. During the session, members of Parliament are expected to elect the leadership and working bodies of the Legislature and to initiate the procedures for appointing a new Government.
The convening of Parliament follows the Constitutional Court’s decision on October 16 to validate the results of the parliamentary elections. Following the September 28 elections, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) won 55 seats, the Patriotic Electoral Bloc – 26 seats, the Alternative Electoral Bloc – 8 seats, and both the Our Party and the Democracy at Home Party obtained 6 seats each.
