Ion Manole, Executive Director of the Promo-LEX Association, criticized Chisinau authorities for failing to communicate effectively with residents of Transnistria during the recent parliamentary elections. Speaking on the RLIVE TV program “Realitatea te priveste”, Manole said the government should have delivered a clear and empathetic message to citizens in the Transnistrian region, who faced additional obstacles while exercising their voting rights.
Manole stated: “I deeply regret that the authorities have still not learned how to communicate with our citizens in Transnistria. They should have sent a very clear and direct message: ‘Dear citizens, we know it was more complicated for you. We know you faced obstacles. We are sorry, but it would have been good for you to have the same conditions as those on the right bank.’”
He emphasized that authorities should have publicly explained the reasons behind logistical difficulties on election day — including moving polling stations from the security zone to Chisinau partially blocking bridges, and other restrictions that affected voter access in the region.
“All these obstacles should have been explained. If the authorities had communicated better, even frustrated citizens would have reacted differently and shown greater respect for the authorities on the right bank,” Manole concluded.
