Igor Grosu and Alexandr Stoianoglo are both running for the position of Speaker of Parliament, after their candidacies were approved by the special commission overseeing the voting process.
Veronica Rosca, the head of the commission, announced the decision during the plenary session. According to parliamentary procedure, both candidates will deliver speeches and answer questions from MPs before the vote takes place.
The location for the Speaker election will be announced after the debates.
Igor Grosu was elected as a deputy on the PAS list, while Alexandr Stoianoglo entered Parliament as a member of the Alternativa Bloc.
