Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu welcomed today, November 4, the European Commission’s annual report on EU enlargement, emphasizing that the Republic of Moldova has made the most progress among all candidate countries over the past year. He highlighted that this progress reflects both the determination and the sustained efforts of Moldovan citizens to integrate into Europe.
“The remarkable progress achieved by the Republic of Moldova over the past year—the greatest among all candidate countries—proves that Moldovans not only want to be Europeans but also deserve it and work hard for it. The European Commission presented today its annual report on EU enlargement, and the conclusions for Moldova are extremely encouraging.
In just one year, we have advanced significantly in all areas: justice reform, the fight against organized crime, energy, education, digitization, regional development, social policy, food safety, and fisheries. The report recognizes the tremendous efforts of our institutions, the Government, and Parliament. But above all, it honors the people who work every day for a European Moldova,” stated Prime Minister Munteanu.
The Prime Minister also underscored that this recognition carries even greater weight because Moldova achieved this progress during a challenging year. During this period, the authorities completed the compatibility analysis of Moldovan and European legislation, developed the National Accession Program, and worked on negotiating positions. Each step forward confirms that Moldova remains determined and capable of reaching its goal of joining the European Union as soon as possible.
