The Mayor of Chisinau and Member of Parliament from the ALTERNATIVA Bloc, Ion Ceban, commented on the visit of European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to Chisinau, emphasizing the need to translate political commitments into tangible improvements for citizens.
“It is very good that European officials are visiting the Republic of Moldova, that there is openness and support. But we want the discussions and meetings — not only the public ones, where encouraging messages are delivered — to also reflect the real situation in all areas, if we truly want our country to integrate into the European Union. So far, we are doing well in theory, but in practice, we still have many gaps,” said Ion Ceban.
The mayor underlined that although Moldova has made progress at the declarative level, it remains crucial to “do its homework” in order to strengthen public trust.
During her visit to Chisinau, Roberta Metsola attended a solemn session of the Moldovan Parliament, where she delivered a speech on the country’s European path. The European Parliament President also met with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, President Maia Sandu, and Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
