The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will continue their European integration process in tandem, following a high-level political decision, said Paun Rohovei, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Chisinau, during the “360 Degrees” program on Radio Moldova, as reported by IPN.
“This political tandem benefits both states. By moving forward together and working toward the same goals, we can exchange experiences, benefit from regional projects, and strengthen the exceptional cooperation between our two deputy prime ministers for European integration,” the diplomat stated.
According to Rohovei, this coordination between Chisinau and Kyiv represents a deliberate political choice designed to ensure synchronized progress of the two candidate countries. “At the political level, this tandem has been established, and I want to assure you that Kyiv, regardless of circumstances, will remain firm in continuing its European path alongside the Republic of Moldova,” he emphasized.
Referring to Ukraine’s relations with Hungary, the ambassador offered an optimistic view, stressing that dialogue remains the main diplomatic instrument, even during periods of tension. “When a nation and its government pursue a noble goal such as joining a value system based on democracy and freedom, no obstacle is insurmountable. We maintain dialogue with Hungary. In the past, we overcame challenges when discussing candidate status. Nothing is impossible if the goal is noble,” Rohovei explained.
The diplomat ruled out the possibility of a decoupling between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in their EU accession paths. “At the political level, it was decided that Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will move forward together. I am confident this path will continue, regardless of external factors,” Pau Rohovei concluded.
