The Dendrarium Park in Chisinau, which is subordinated to the Chisinau City Hall, is an important oxygen reservoir for the city, spreading across 83 hectares in the Buiucani district. Founded in 1973 on the site of the former Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the location impresses both with its generous size and its remarkable landscape and biological diversity.

It is known that the first trees and shrubs were planted in the early 1950s. Today, the park hosts more than one thousand types of plants, including rare and exotic species such as Ginkgo biloba, Metasequoia, and others. The park is home to nine species of woody plants out of the 13 listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova.

The municipal enterprise “Dendrarium Park” has undergone essential modernization changes in recent years.

The old paving on the alleys has been replaced, and two modular sanitary blocks have been installed, accessible also for people with special needs. A watering system for floral compositions has been installed, public lighting has been expanded and modernized, and a lakeside promenade has been built.

To avoid crowding and heavy flow at the main entrance, three more access gates have been opened: the entrance from E. Coca Street; from V. Lupu Street at the intersection with A. Mateevici Street; and from the area near the “Ion Creanga” University. Additionally, to make walks more enjoyable for children and parents, the park now features playgrounds—including those adapted for children with special needs—along with a fitness area, tables for table tennis and arm wrestling, and swings.

A public parking lot has been built near Dendrarium Park, on Ion Creanga Street, for the convenience of visitors. The park remains one of the most beloved places for Chisinau residents and guests of the capital to spend their free time.
