The cold season has begun, and Moldovans are feeling the pinch of high heating and gas bills. Realitatea asked several MPs how much they pay for heating and whether they have applied for compensations.

The lawmakers said they have not submitted requests and do not plan to ask for “meter-based assistance.” Some admitted that they haven’t seen their bills, while others explained that their wives handle the payments, so they could not provide the exact amounts.

Igor Dodon reported that his last bill totaled around 3,000–4,000 lei, which his wife paid. Vasile Tarlev said his wife complained about the high charges. Vasile Costiuc revealed that his last heating payment amounted to about 900 lei.

Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said he conserves energy and avoids turning the heat on fully. Sergiu Stefanco from the “Democracy at home” Platform noted that his wife informs him if any arrears arise.

Speaker Igor Grosu shared that his family’s last heating bill reached around 1,700 lei, while PAS deputy Maxim Potirniche said he has not yet seen his receipt.
