A passenger on the Istanbul–Chisinau route reported the disappearance of 7,000 euros during the flight, prompting authorities to identify an international group suspected of committing thefts on board aircraft.
On December 29, authorities stopped a 48-year-old man of Asian origin for inspection before he boarded a flight to Istanbul. During the check, officers found the 7,000 euros that the passenger had reported as stolen. Authorities recovered the full amount.
Police detained the suspect for 72 hours and opened a criminal case for theft. Investigators continue their work to identify and locate other members of the suspected network.
