The leaders of the Baltic parliaments met with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri. During the meeting, they discussed the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, developments in the regional situation, and external assistance for residents on the left bank of the Dniester River.
Speaker of the Estonian Riigikogu Lauri Hussar, Speaker of the Latvian Saeima Daiga Mierina, and Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Juozas Olekas discussed with Valeriu Chiveri the importance of maintaining external support for initiatives that improve living conditions for citizens on both banks of the Dniester. They emphasized confidence-building measures, the promotion of democratic values, accurate public information on the substance and benefits of reintegration policies, and support for government efforts to restore unified national spaces, according to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.
Representatives of the Baltic parliaments welcomed the progress made by Moldovan authorities in implementing socio-economic reintegration policies. They expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest and reaffirmed their support for the authorities in Chisinau.
The speakers of the Baltic parliaments conclude their official visit to Chisinau on February 4. During the visit, they participated in a solemn parliamentary session, traveled to Calarasi, and held meetings with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, President Maia Sandu, and other senior officials.
