“Our future depends on how we build it together,” President Maia Sandu said, referring to the upcoming elections in Gagauzia. She spoke during the anniversary of the university in Comrat, emphasizing that both academic institutions and authorities must focus on preserving and promoting Gagauz culture.

The President highlighted that Gagauzia is an important region of the Republic of Moldova and that its development cannot happen in isolation.

“We all share a common goal. We want to live in peace and prosperity here, at home. But we live in very difficult and unpredictable times, when simply promoting democratic values is no longer enough. These values require continuous effort and struggle to protect them. Our future depends on how we build it together. Soon, the residents of Gagauzia will elect their representatives to the People’s Assembly. These people must bring the long-awaited changes that Gagauz voters deserve—development, prosperity, peace, and dialogue. They must transform Gagauzia into a strong, modern, and open community, one that has been dreamed of and fought for by prominent figures of the Gagauz people,” Sandu said.

She also stressed the importance of studying the Gagauz language and noted that knowledge of the Romanian language is equally necessary to fully benefit from the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova.
