Vladimir Plahotniuc declined to provide details to journalists regarding the identity of the undercover witness in the “theft of the billion” case, directing questions to prosecutors instead.
“Ask the prosecutors, they made the statement, didn’t they?” Plahotniuc told reporters.
On Thursday, Plahotniuc was escorted to court, where he had been scheduled to make statements. However, citing a viral infection, he requested a postponement of the hearing. The panel of judges granted the request.
The existence of the secret witness was announced by prosecutor Alexandru Cernei on Monday, February 9. He specified that the witness is a person who knew the defendant.
