“Do you think a student can control his professor?” Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu asked when journalists questioned him about rumors that Dorin Recean is secretly controlling the Government. He made the statement in the TV8 studio and noted that part of his predecessor’s team has remained in the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Prime Minister rejected the speculation. “I do not know where you heard that. We know each other, he was my student. But that does not mean that… do you think a student can control his professor?” he said.
Alexandru Munteanu stated that he had a free hand in forming his team. He added that while the Government needed new faces, some ministers from the Recean Government chose not to continue their work in the Cabinet.
Referring to the advisers he inherited from Dorin Recean, the Prime Minister said he focused on their professionalism and integrity, not on their political affiliation.
