Mihai Popsoi to Visit Switzerland and Austria for High-Level Talks

Between February 24 and 25, Moldova Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi will pay a working visit to Switzerland and Austria.

In Bern, Mihai Popsoi will meet Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation. In Geneva, he will participate in the high level segment of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and deliver a plenary address.

The agenda also includes high level side events focused on strengthening accountability mechanisms for violations committed in the context of the Russian Federation war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as on promoting social rights and reinforcing democratic stability. Minister Popsoi will meet Sabine Monauni, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Volker Turk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Doreen Bogdan Martin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union.

On February 26 and 27, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi will travel to Vienna. He will meet Beate Meinl Reisinger, Austria Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, and participate in a meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. During the meeting, he will present the priorities of Moldova mandate at the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The foreign minister will also visit the federal state of Carinthia, where he will meet Governor Peter Kaiser, Regional Parliament President Andreas Scherwitzl, and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce. Mihai Popsoi will visit the municipality of Neuhaus in Carinthia, twinned with the commune of Truseni and host to the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova.

During his visit to Austria, the head of Moldova diplomacy will also meet Moldovan citizens residing in the federal states.
