Igor Dodon, leader of the PSRM, announced that the parliamentary opposition intended to submit a motion of no confidence against the government led by Alexandru Munteanu on March 26, but the declaration of a state of emergency blocked the procedure.

Dodon said the socialists discussed the initiative with other opposition parties and gathered the minimum 26 signatures required to submit the motion and summon the government to report to Parliament.

“Today, we were supposed to submit a motion of no confidence against the Munteanu government. I discussed with colleagues in the opposition, and we had the minimum 26 signatures required to call the government to account,” Dodon stated.

He accused the Prime Minister of refusing to present an activity report to the Legislature. Dodon clarified that, under the approved state of emergency, the opposition cannot submit a motion of no confidence. “Given that Parliament approved the state of emergency, it is impossible to submit the motion of no confidence,” he explained.

Dodon assured that the party will not abandon the initiative and will insist that the government appear before deputies to present its activity report as soon as the legal framework allows.

Since March 25, 2026, authorities have enforced a 60-day state of emergency in the energy sector in Moldova, following attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine’s infrastructure.
