The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland adopted a joint declaration reaffirming support for Moldova’s European integration during its 11th session in Warsaw, hosted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

Vice Speaker of Parliament Doina Gherman and the Polish co-chair, Szymon Hołownia, signed the document, which focuses on support for Moldova’s EU accession process and enhanced cooperation on regional security.

On European integration, the declaration welcomed Moldova’s progress in accession negotiations and emphasized the importance of continued political support from EU member states. The signatories highlighted the opening of the first negotiation cluster, “Fundamentals,” and supported accelerating the accession process through the opening of additional negotiation clusters based on Moldova’s progress.

The document also praised Moldova’s efforts to implement reforms in the areas of the rule of law, anti-corruption, and public administration modernization. The parties recognized Poland as a key partner providing expertise and technical assistance throughout the reform process.

Regarding security, the declaration addressed the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on both Moldova and Poland, noting that the two countries face the consequences of regional instability. The signatories expressed solidarity with Ukraine and reaffirmed support for its territorial integrity while backing efforts to strengthen Moldova’s resilience against hybrid threats.

Established in 2011, the Moldova–Poland Parliamentary Assembly serves as a consultative platform and meets annually, alternating between Chișinău and Warsaw, to coordinate positions on bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
