Cypriot European affairs minister awarded Moldova’s Order of Honour

Cyprus’ Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, has been awarded Moldova’s Order of Honour, following a decree signed by President Maia Sandu.

According to the decree, the distinction was granted:

“As a mark of high appreciation for the excellent cooperation and steadfast commitment to the European Union’s enlargement policy during the Republic of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ms. Marilena Raouna, Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, is awarded the Order of Honour.”

Moldova opened its first EU accession negotiation cluster during Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the European Union. Raouna was among the officials who actively supported the European Union’s enlargement process during that period.

According to Moldova’s Presidential Administration, technical negotiations on three additional groups of accession chapters were also launched during Cyprus’ term at the helm of the Council.
