President Maia Sandu is attending the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris on Monday, July 13, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. It marks the first time that the Republic of Moldova has participated in this international political and diplomatic coordination format.

France, Germany, and the United Kingdom jointly chair the Coalition of the Willing, which brings together 37 countries, most of them from Europe. The meeting aims to strengthen support for Ukraine and identify ways to achieve a just and lasting peace that would prevent further aggression.

According to the Presidency, Moldova’s participation in the format continues the country’s support for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion and is fully compatible with the constitutional principle of neutrality. The authorities emphasized that each participating country independently determines the nature and scope of its contribution in line with its own constitutional framework.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, Moldova has provided shelter to Ukrainian refugees, facilitated transit corridors for Ukrainian exports, delivered humanitarian and energy assistance, and contributed to the training of Ukrainian demining specialists in humanitarian mine clearance.

The Presidency stressed that Moldova’s security is closely linked to Ukraine’s security and that a lasting peace in the neighboring country would bring greater stability not only to Moldova but also to Europe as a whole.
