Anastasia Taburceanu has returned the money she received from Moldatsa, according to a response obtained by the Realitatea Media Group. The funds were transferred back to the state-owned company in four installments.
At the beginning of July, Taburceanu officially requested a detailed calculation of the amounts she had received during her employment at Moldatsa and expressed her intention to return the money.
“Following the provision of the calculation of salary entitlements by the entity and based on her written statements of July 3 and July 9, 2026, the former employee expressed her intention to return the total amount of 1,101,766.12 lei,” Moldatsa said.
The amount includes her salary, bonuses, allowances and other employment-related payments received from the company throughout her entire employment period.
Taburceanu made the repayments in four installments:
- July 1: more than 520,000 lei
- July 9: 200,000 lei
- July 13: 150,000 lei
- July 14: more than 231,000 lei
The Moldatsa salary scandal erupted after a journalistic investigation reported that the company’s director, Dumitru Vangheli, who earned around 110,000 lei per month, had included false information in his CV.
RFE/RL’s Moldovan investigative outlet RISE Moldova later reported that Taburceanu, who is Maia Sandu’s cousin, had been hired by Moldatsa’s communications department without a competitive recruitment process and received a monthly salary of around 120,000 lei.
