Moldovan wine producers are expanding their presence on international markets with the help of the Moldovan diaspora, as a recent wine-tasting event in The Hague connected local producers with Dutch consumers and businesses.

Entrepreneur Iulian Buza, co-founder and manager of Buza Restaurant & Wine, organized the “Moldovan Wine Tasting” event with support from the “Buy Diaspora” programme.

Held on August 30, the event brought together 10 small wine producers from the Republic of Moldova, who presented their products to consumers and representatives of the Dutch business community. The event combined B2C and B2B activities, giving producers an opportunity to promote their wines directly and establish new business contacts.

The programme also included wine tastings and masterclasses, while the networking sessions helped Moldovan producers explore potential partnerships with Dutch companies and identify new export opportunities.

The initiative highlights the growing role of the Moldovan diaspora in promoting the country and its products abroad. Diaspora entrepreneurs can help connect Moldovan businesses with foreign consumers, distributors and potential partners, creating new opportunities for international expansion.

The “Buy Diaspora” programme is implemented by Invest Moldova Agency in partnership with UNDP Moldova, with financial support from the UN Multilateral Migration Partner Trust Fund.

The initiative demonstrates how diaspora-led projects can help Moldovan businesses reach new markets while strengthening the country’s economic ties with communities and companies abroad.
