The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has set November 15, 2026 as the date for the election of the governor of Gagauzia. The vote will be held simultaneously with elections for members of the region’s People’s Assembly.
According to CEC members, the People’s Assembly made three attempts to set the date of the election, but each attempt failed.
The CEC decision was approved with six votes in favour and two abstentions.
According to data from the State Register of Voters valid as of August 26, 2026, a total of 129,315 voters are registered in the administrative-territorial units of Gagauzia.
