Moldova is set to denounce an agreement within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on combating trafficking in persons, human organs and human tissues.
The initiative is scheduled to be discussed at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting on September 9.
The draft was prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The agreement was signed in Moscow on November 25, 2005.
Following the outbreak of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Moldovan Government conducted an audit of agreements concluded within the CIS and denounced several international agreements. Authorities said that many of their provisions had become outdated and were no longer effective.
Moldova has also denounced the agreement establishing the CIS. As a result, the country is expected to officially withdraw from the organization in 2027.
