Moldova could conclude its accession negotiations with the European Union by early 2028, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov said.

Speaking on the “În context” programme on Moldova 1, Gherasimov said the authorities are following the timetable set out in Moldova’s National Accession Programme, with each government institution assigned specific reforms and deadlines.

“We are doing everything possible to stick to the rigorous timetable we included in the National Accession Programme. Every state institution knows what it has to do and knows the deadlines that have been set,” Cristina Gherasimov said.

The deputy prime minister added that Moldovan authorities are maintaining an active dialogue with the European Commission, which is monitoring and assessing the implementation of the reforms.

“If we continue at the same pace, with increased capacities, I believe we will be able to be ready to conclude the negotiations by the beginning of 2028,” Gherasimov said.

Her statement refers to the completion of the accession negotiations and does not in itself represent a confirmed date for Moldova’s EU membership, which would require further steps after negotiations are concluded.
