Secretary General of the Council of Europe condemns attempts to destabilize Moldova; statement made during a joint press conference with President Maia Sandu.
Marija Pejčinović Burić spoke about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and referred to the situation in Moldova. In her opinion, the geopolitical context is a complicated one, and citizens in neighboring countries, particularly women and children, are suffering due to the atrocities of war.
“I condemn the attempts to destabilize the democratic security in your country (Moldova). Such actions have no place in Europe,” said Buric.
The Council of Europe official is currently in Chisinau and had a meeting with President Maia Sandu. Among the key topics discussed were judicial reform, the European integration of Moldova, and the impact of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
