A minibus registered in Moldova was involved in a serious accident in Hungary: Eight people died

A minibus registered in the Republic of Moldova crashes this morning in a serious road accident in Hungary, near Győr, about 122 km west of Budapest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces.

According to preliminary information from Hungarian authorities, the accident occurs after an initial collision between a truck and a passenger car. After that, the Moldovan-registered minibus hits the truck, which remains on the roadway.

Preliminary data show that nine people travel in the minibus, and eight of them die in the crash.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Hungary remains in permanent contact with local authorities. At this stage, authorities have not yet confirmed the identity and citizenship of the victims, and investigators continue to determine all circumstances of the accident.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar expresses condolences, noting that the victims are believed to be foreign citizens.

“On behalf of the government, I extend my sincere condolences to the families of the eight foreign citizens who lose their lives in this accident,” he writes on Facebook.
