A Moldovan citizen has died in Greece as a result of forest fires

A 60-year-old woman from the Republic of Moldova died in a large-scale vegetation fire in the Chalandri neighborhood near Athens, Greece. The Greek authorities confirmed the information and passed it on to the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the AFP agency, firefighters found the woman’s body on the grounds of a factory destroyed by fire, surrounded by charred pieces of furniture.

Moldova’s Foreign Ministry confirmed receiving information about the tragedy and said it is currently in close contact with the embassy in Athens. The ministry promises to provide further details when new information is received.

In addition, a team of rescuers from Moldova has been sent to Greece to help extinguish the fire.
