A new group of Moldovan firefighters traveled to Greece to fight fires

Twenty Moldovan firefighters have traveled to Greece to help fight fires. The rescue team will be deployed in the NEA Makri region, starting their mission on July 30 and continuing until August 15.

“The first 20 firefighters from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES) have completed their mission and will return to the country on August 1, 2024. A second group went to Greece to rotate personnel and will succeed them. Interior Minister Adrian Efros honored the firefighters of the MIA GIES emphasizing the importance of the Moldovan team’s participation in this mission as part of the EU accession process,” said the Interior Ministry in a statement.

From July 16 to August 15, a Moldovan team of firefighters will participate in a pre-deployment mission in the NEA Makri region of the Hellenic Republic as part of the European Program for Combating Forest Fires. The European Union Civil Protection Mechanism organizes this mission.
