Law enforcement suspects that two men murdered a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl Valeria whose body was found Wednesday in a forest near the German town of Döbeln, Unian reports, citing Bild.
According to the publication, the prime suspect is Andrei, a native of the Republic of Moldova, the 33-year-old ex-boyfriend of Valeria’s mother. He lives in Prague, but Czech investigators cannot trace him.
He is known to have written to the girl’s mother on the morning of the murder and asked her to call. According to Bild, he was in Döbeln that day.

The second suspect is a 50-year-old refugee from Ukraine, former sailor Ghenadie L, who was a neighbor of the girl’s family. The publication reports that Valerie’s mother turned down Ghenadie’s desire for a relationship. Afterward, as revenge, he promised to “destroy her life.”
German police have not yet been able to find him. Shortly before death, Valeria reported that she had been stalked by an adult male, according to the source.
