This year, the Romanian Government, through the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM), is funding 99 projects that support the cultural and educational development of the Republic of Moldova. Among these is the “Astra Film” festival in Chisinau, which begins on Thursday, November 14, at Cinema Loteanu. According to Radio Chisinau, the festival will showcase a selection of award-winning documentaries and include educational events with free entry.
Among the significant moments of the festival is the presence of poet Ana Blandiana, who will participate on Friday, November 15, in the screening of the documentary “Intre tacere si pacat” (Between Silence and Sin), directed by Diana Nicolae. After the screening, she will engage in a dialogue with the audience.
In an interview for Radio Chisinau, Adrian Dupu, Secretary of State of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM) within the Romanian Government, emphasized that Astra Film Chisinau has become a traditional event promoting cultural dialogue between the two sides of the Prut River.

“All the projects we have funded have been free of charge. It is not a surprise but a novelty that we have managed to bring Astra Film to Chisinau for the third consecutive year. Astra Film is an established project in Romania, being the largest documentary film festival in Eastern Europe and one of the largest in Europe. It has reached its 31st edition in Romania, and I am happy that we have made it a traditional event in Chisinau. We are bringing new films, including Romanian ones, and poet Ana Blandiana will also be present on Friday at the screening of the documentary ”Intre tacere si pacat” (Between Silence and Sin). I am glad that Ana Blandiana, one of the greatest living Romanian poets, will be in Chisinau. This is an extra reason for film and literature lovers to attend,” said Adrian Dupu.
Adrian Dupu also mentioned the significant increase in funding provided by DRRM, highlighting the major impact these projects have had on the Republic of Moldova.
”I am happy that, since I took over the department, we have increased funding nearly 20-fold, enabling us to implement more projects and reach more people. We have two methods: we fund new projects and implement new direct projects, and there is also a funding session where we receive and analyze projects. This year, out of 350 projects submitted, we managed to fund 99,” added Adrian Dupu.
The department has also supported other important projects recently, such as the ”Festivalul Traditiilor Romanesti” (Romanian Traditions Festival) held at the Botanical Garden and a series of educationa
