A court has found a citizen of the Republic of Moldova guilty of murdering a 21-year-old man from Tula, a crime committed more than 23 years ago in the settlement of Molochnye Dvory. According to prosecutors in the Tula region, the perpetrator inflicted fatal blows to the victim’s head to commit robbery, then fled Russia, rupor.md reports.

Investigators established that in December 2003, the accused attacked the victim to steal his belongings, including a wristwatch, a car stereo panel, and several mobile phones. Authorities suspended the investigation in 2006 after they failed to identify the attacker. In 2025, however, new evidence emerged, prompting investigators to reopen the case and place the suspect on the federal wanted list.

The Plavsk District Court sentenced the defendant in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
