On the morning of Friday, June 7, 2024, “HiSky” Airlines operated its first non-stop long-haul flight between “Henri Coanda” (Otopeni) airport in Bucharest and “John F. Kennedy” (JFK) airport in New York (USA). This is the first direct flight operated by a Romanian airline to the United States after a break of almost 21 years, reports bani.md.
“HiSky,” an airline registered and certified in Romania, is controlled by Moldovan pilot Iulian Scorpan. An Airbus A330 (YR-KID) aircraft, with a capacity of 24 passengers in business class and 250 in economy class, made the inaugural flight.
“HiSky” will operate the Bucharest – New York route with a frequency of four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. In addition, the airline also offers flights between New York and Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Chisinau (Republic of Moldova), and Tel Aviv (Israel), with a stopover in Bucharest.
