Authorities in Romania issued two RO-Alert messages during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday for residents in the northern part of Tulcea County, after groups of drones were detected near national airspace.

According to the Ministry of National Defence of Romania, the alerts were sent at 02:37 and 05:08, in the context of attacks carried out by Russian forces on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, close to the river border with Romania.

The first alert was issued after a group of drones was observed flying near Romanian airspace, heading toward Valcove. In response, authorities activated warning systems, while two F-16 Fighting Falcon jets of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Air Base Fetesti for surveillance missions. Air defense systems were also placed in firing positions.

A few hours later, a second group of drones was detected heading toward Izmail, prompting another RO-Alert message. Officials emphasized that no unauthorized incursions into Romanian airspace were recorded.

The air alert was lifted at 05:42, while authorities continued monitoring the situation in the area.
