An explosion occurred Monday evening outside Talmaza village in Moldova’s Stefan Voda district, prompting law enforcement officers to immediately deploy to the scene.

The blast occurred approximately three kilometers from the village and also sparked a fire in nearby vegetation. No casualties were reported.

Authorities secured the area, while emergency services worked to extinguish the fire and establish the circumstances of the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that the explosion occurred after an unidentified aircraft crashed into the ground, law enforcement authorities said.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the National Army’s airspace surveillance systems detected an airborne object entering Moldovan airspace at 5:37 p.m. along the Cuciurgan-Tiraspol direction.

Authorities immediately took measures to close the airspace over the central sector for 15 minutes. According to preliminary data, the object disappeared from monitoring systems in the Talmaza area of Stefan Voda district.

Specialists from the police’s explosives technical unit are heading to the site to examine the wreckage and establish the aircraft’s exact origin.

Authorities urged citizens to stay away from the area and avoid touching any suspicious objects they may find on the ground.
