European Council President Antonio Costa and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola have sent messages to Moldova on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, reiterating their support for its European path.
Metsola once again emphasized the message “Moldova is Europe.”
“Today we celebrate the strength of the Moldovan people as we build the European future together,” Metsola said.
Antonio Costa also congratulated Moldova on the 35th anniversary of its independence.
“Congratulations on 35 years of Independence, Moldova! A special day for Moldova and its people. Celebrate your freedom, sovereignty, democracy and your path towards the EU,” the European Council president wrote.
Messages of congratulations have also been sent by officials from several other countries.
Romanian President Nicusor Dan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are expected to address the Moldovan people from the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
