Avoid traveling to Israel! The new alert issued for Moldovan citizens

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) advises Moldovan citizens to avoid travel to Israel and the Middle East region due to the “increased” risk of military conflict escalation. Authorities issued the new alert on Sunday, August 4.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova strongly advises Moldovan citizens to avoid traveling to Israel and the Middle East region due to the current security situation and increased risk of escalation. We must note the heightened security risks due to the state of emergency and war declared by Israeli authorities on October 7, 2023. Although Israeli authorities currently maintain the same alert level, the security situation in the area is constantly changing and could alter suddenly without prior warning,” reads a press release.

The MFA also advises Moldovan citizens currently in Israel to:

  • Follow the instructions of local authorities.
  • Seek shelter in buildings and designated public spaces because of air attacks.

Those who have already purchased return tickets to Moldova should contact their airlines to check the status of their flights. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv operates as usual, even though some airlines have suspended flights to and from Israel for security reasons.
