Border Guard Slightly Injured After Projectile Lands Near Palanca Border Crossing

A Moldovan border police officer was slightly injured on Monday morning after a projectile landed near the Palanca–Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing.

The projectile ricocheted after hitting the ground and struck a route bus that was stationary near the barrier.

The incident occurred at around 9:38 a.m. amid Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, Moldova’s Border Police reported.

The impact damaged the bus and a border control booth. One Border Police employee sustained minor injuries. No other casualties were reported.

Following the incident, operations at the Palanca (Moldova)–Maiaki-Udobnoe (Ukraine) border crossing were suspended.

The Border Police and Customs Service are monitoring the situation and remain in contact with Ukrainian authorities.

Authorities are advising citizens to avoid travelling to the area around the border crossing and to rely only on official information.

In the event of explosions or sounds characteristic of drones, people are urged to remain calm and seek shelter in a safe location.
