More Than 120 People Apply to Run for Gagauzia People’s Assembly

More than 120 people have submitted documents to run for seats in the People’s Assembly of Moldova’s Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

As of October 4, 122 applications had been registered across the three electoral constituencies. Of these, 90 were submitted by independent candidates and 32 by candidates nominated by political parties.

The largest number of applications was recorded in the Comrat constituency, with 62 submissions. Eleven candidates have already been registered, while 51 applications are still under review.

In Ceadîr-Lunga, 40 applications have been submitted. Ten candidates have been registered, while 30 files remain under examination.

In the Vulcănești constituency, 20 applications have been filed. Five candidates have been registered, while another 15 applications are being reviewed.

The deadline for submitting candidacy documents is October 6, inclusive. After the deadline, the electoral councils will continue examining the applications and make decisions on the registration of candidates.

The electoral campaign will begin on October 16, while elections for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia are scheduled for November 15.
