Breaking News: Moldovagaz to Lose Its License After July 31, with Energocom Set to Take Over Supply Operations

Former Energy Minister Victor Parlicov claims that Gazprom never intended to transfer its gas transport assets to Moldovatransgaz. As a result, Moldovagaz will lose its license as a gas transmission operator starting July 31, 2025, BANI.MD reports.

“If Gazprom wanted to transfer the assets to Moldovatransgaz, it would have done so long ago. There was no need to involve Vestmoldtransgaz in seize gas transmission as an independent operator. Gazprom didn’t want this, and I still don’t see why it would change its mind now,” Parlicov said during a show aired on Rlive.

The former Energy Minister also added that this lack of asset transfer will inevitably lead to Moldovagaz losing its license. It will force the authorities to appoint new consumers’ suppliers on the right bank.

“I assume the asset transfer won’t happen, and because of that, Moldovagaz will lose its license after July 31. That means another operator will take over the gas supply for consumers on the right bank. Most likely, the authorities will select the new operator through a tender. Energocom stands in the best position and must participate in that tender,” Parlicov explained.

BANI.MD reminds us that Moldovagaz risks losing its license after ANRE approved, on April 8, 2025, a decision to certify SRL Vestmoldtransgaz as the gas transmission system operator. The authority says this decision adapts the deadline for implementing European requirements to the actual conditions of Moldova’s gas market.

Later, the institution issued a reaction.
