Castel Mimi, the only wine castle in Moldova, continues to grow and develop after opening the country’s first zero-emissions hotel in 2024. Castel Mimi signed a financial support and grant agreement with the EBRD and the European Union in Moldova through the local Bank Moldova Agroindbank to boost wine tourism, according to a press release on the EBRD’s official website.
Using a 25 million lei loan—half of which the EBRD underwrites—and a €327,000 EU grant, Castel Mimi, ranked among the 15 most beautiful wineries in the world, will build a modern two-story wellness center in Bulboaca. With this project, Castel Mimi continues to invest in sustainability and environmental responsibility, maintaining its role as a promoter of sustainable business practices in Moldova.
Arvid Tuerkner, EBRD Managing Director for Ukraine and Moldova; Janis Mazeiks, EU Ambassador to Moldova; Andrii Glevatskyi, Vice President of MAIB’s Management Board; and Adrian Trofim, CEO of Castel Mimi, signed the funding agreement in the Constantin Mimi Library Hall. All expressed strong confidence in the partnership, which promotes sustainable development, economic resilience, energy efficiency, and job creation.
Adrian Trofim, CEO of Castel Mimi, stated: “At Castel Mimi, we invest in sustainability with a focus on the future. We thank the EU, EBRD, and MAIB for supporting our projects and hope our example inspires others in Moldova and the region.”
