Chișinău City Hall and UNICEF Moldova Present “Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years”

The Municipality of Chișinău and UNICEF Moldova unveiled today the “Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years,” a significant initiative aimed at preventing the separation of children from their families, marginalization, and social exclusion. The center provides support and solutions for the educational and social inclusion of children in this age group.

The event was attended by Vice Mayor of Chișinău, Angela Cutasevici, and UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Maha Damaj.

Vice Mayor Angela Cutasevici emphasized the importance of this service in promoting and protecting children’s rights.

“The launch of the Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years represents a significant step towards ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for our children’s development in their early years. We are dedicated to the growth and protection of all children in the municipality of Chișinău, and we believe that this service will bring significant benefits to our community. Through this initiative, we also provide parents with the necessary support in caring for and educating their children, enabling them to have access to quality early education and, at the same time, engage in work to build a better future. The Day Center for Children represents a vital platform for the economic empowerment of young mothers, offering them the flexibility and support they need to find employment and achieve financial independence. We are determined to support families and open new opportunities for young parents in our community to prevent family separation.”

UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Maha Damaj, added that the center is an important step in ensuring access to services.

“UNICEF Moldova is delighted to support initiatives that contribute to the development and protection of children’s rights. The Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years is an important step in ensuring universal access to high-quality services for young children and will play an essential role in creating a better future for them.”

During the event, Tatiana Oboroc, the head of the General Directorate for the Protection of Children’s Rights, presented in detail the “Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years.” The center will provide 60 places and will operate in a renovated and properly equipped building, offering children a safe and stimulating environment for their development and parents the opportunity to harmonize family life with their professional life.

An important moment of the event was the screening of a video presentation of the center, which provided a comprehensive overview of the facilities and activities carried out there.

The participants also had the opportunity to visit the Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years, where they could directly observe the friendly environment and warm atmosphere created for the children.

“Today’s event provided a unique opportunity to discover and promote the activities and solutions offered by the Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years. We are confident that this service will significantly contribute to preventing the separation of children from their families and creating a favorable environment for the development of our children,” said Tatiana Oboroc.

The expansion of the “Day Center for Children from 4 Months to 3 Years” was approved at the end of 2022 by the Chișinău Municipal Council. It involved the addition of 60 places and the complete renovation and equipping of the building to create optimal conditions for children’s development. Funding for this service comes from the municipal budget and resources raised by the institution, including donations from individuals, businesses, and non-commercial organizations.
