After decades of neglect, Dumitru Riscanu Park on Branistii Street has regained its role as the heart of the Riscani district, now featuring new leisure zones and modern spaces for sports and recreation.

Chisinau City Hall modernized the park—one of the largest green spaces in the capital, covering more than six hectares—through several stages. Only a few years ago, the park stood in disrepair; today, it thrives as a favorite destination for residents.

City Hall built a new sports area with multifunctional courts for various athletic activities. The facilities serve both children and adults, encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle. The park now also includes public restrooms, showers, and changing cabins, with finishing works underway.

So far, the modernization project has:

  • Rehabilitated and built new pedestrian alleys
  • Created new access routes connecting Riscani and Ciocana sectors
  • Added stairways linking the alleys to the lake
  • Introduced a jogging track and a separate cycling path
  • Renovated the embankments
  • Installed a new public lighting system
  • Placed new urban furniture
  • Trimmed and cleaned the trees
  • Built modern playgrounds for children
  • Installed outdoor chess tables
  • Cleaned the lake and set up a beach area
  • Constructed a new sanitary block to replace the old one on Branistii Street
  • Renovated the “Amusement Town” zone
  • Repaired roads and sidewalks on Branistii Street
  • Created new public parking spaces

During the summer, Dumitru Riscanu Park also hosts cultural and artistic events. Through these investments, Chisinau City Hall continues to expand urban infrastructure and restore neglected public areas. Dumitru Riscanu Park now stands as both a space for recreation and a symbol of Chisinau’s renewal—offering families comfort, children safety, and sports enthusiasts modern facilities.
