Russia accuses Moldovan authorities of discriminating against Russian citizens at the border. The MFA responds

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau states that the Republic of Moldova remains a safe and welcoming country for visitors. This statement follows Moscow’s decision to issue a travel warning for Russian citizens, citing strict checks, humiliating treatment, and denied entry into Moldova.

“We regret that Russian authorities once again choose to escalate tensions and divide through unfounded claims. Authorities allow entry to all individuals except those who raise legitimate concerns, as defined by the law. All others are warmly welcome to enjoy the renowned hospitality of the Moldovan people,” the Chisinau diplomacy responded.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused Moldovan authorities of pursuing a “discriminatory” policy against Russian citizens entering Moldova. In a press release published on April 24, the ministry alleged that:

“Upon arrival at Chisinau airport, Russian passport holders often undergo humiliating and lengthy inspections, sometimes lasting several hours. During these checks, they receive no basic amenities such as water, food, or access to communication. Authorities frequently deny them entry into the country for fabricated or unexplained reasons. Every day, Moldovan authorities reportedly refuse entry to several dozen Russian citizens. The Russian Embassy in Chisinau faces serious restrictions in offering consular assistance, as Moldovan officials reportedly deny embassy staff access to detained Russian nationals.”
