Chisinau wants to intensify political dialogue with NATO

The Moldovan authorities want to intensify political dialogue and practical cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance. Moldova is interested in making the most of the opportunities provided by NATO to partner countries within the framework of various cooperation programs and instruments. The aim is to learn from the alliance’s experience in many fields.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ruslan Bolbochan stated that the invitation of the Republic of Moldova to the NATO summit reflects the importance of the alliance of partnership with the Republic of Moldova. NATO supports the security of our country. The war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine seriously affects all aspects of the security of the Republic of Moldova. Western states need to react to the aggression of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the NATO summit in Vilnius paid increased attention to security issues in Eastern Europe, countering the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation, restoring the international order based on rules and norms, providing political support and practical assistance to Eastern partner states to increase their security capabilities, defense, and sustainability. With the decisions taken at the Vilnius summit, the NATO states responded to the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and, in particular, reaffirmed their solidarity with the leadership and people of Ukraine.

Ruslan Bolbochan added that the importance of the summit is in the fact that with the decisions taken, the NATO states conveyed clear messages that they will continue to defend the international order based on rules and norms, the principles of the UN Charter, such values as democracy, freedom, and the rule of law, and respect for human rights.
