The #NeamPornit Facebook page shared the story of a treasure found in Mateuți village, Rezina district. We’re talking about the picturesque gorge of the Ciorna River in this area. The village is located 17 km away from the district center, 14 km from the town of Râbnița, and 120 km from the city of Chișinău.
According to the information, the gorge in Mateuți village, also known as the “Great Gorge” of the Ciorna River, is a four-kilometer-long canyon with slopes exceeding 200 meters in height. The monumental gorge with high hills has a wide opening and is of rare beauty. “#NeamPornit representatives mentioned that the view overwhelms you and compels you to sincerely admire this treasure of nature.”
Moreover, in the village, there is a tunnel carved into the rock dedicated to the railway on the Bălți-Ungheni-Kiev line. In this unique landscape, you can also glimpse the ruins of a former water mill, as well as the industrial part of the village – the towers of a former cement factory. In another part of the village, there are also traces of a Geto-Dacian fortress.
