Officers of Moldova’s National Anticorruption Center (CNA) are conducting searches as part of a corruption investigation involving officials from the State Technical Supervision Inspectorate “InTehAgro” and individuals affiliated with driving schools in Chisinau. Five people are being targeted in the investigation.

According to the CNA, officials from the Chisinau territorial subdivision of the State Technical Supervision Inspectorate “InTehAgro,” acting in coordination with individuals from several driving schools, allegedly demanded and received between 3,000 and 20,000 lei in exchange for illegally issuing documents and facilitating certain procedures.

More specifically, in exchange for illicit payments made directly or through intermediaries, the suspects allegedly helped candidates obtain Category H driving licenses, register and re-register machinery used in the construction and agricultural sectors, issue technical inspection reports for individuals and legal entities, and issue certificates confirming the registration of pledges.

Searches are being carried out at the homes, vehicles and offices of employees of the Chisinau subdivision of the State Technical Supervision Inspectorate “InTehAgro,” as well as at the home of the administrator of a driving school in Chisinau.

The suspects will be investigated while at liberty.
