The court found Dorin Damir guilty on two counts, abuse of office and document forgery, and sentenced him to three years in prison with immediate execution in the case concerning fictitious employment at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The court acquitted Damir on three other charges and ordered his detention until the sentence becomes final.

A panel of judges composed of Angela Catana, Sergiu Stratan, and Alexandru Negru issued the ruling on Monday, January 19, 2026, in the absence of the defendant. The court handed down similar sentences to the other two defendants in the case, Alexandru Pinzari and Valeriu Cojocaru, sentencing each of them to three years in prison on two counts and acquitting them on the remaining three charges.

The case concerns the fictitious employment of Dorin Damir in a subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs between 2017 and 2019. During this period, he allegedly received a salary, special ranks, and official documents without performing any actual work. Judicial proceedings in the case lasted more than five years.

The defendants can appeal the ruling before the Court of Appeal.
