Today, August 27, the capitals of France, Germany, and Poland will be represented in Chisinau by President Emmanuel Macron (France), Chancellor Friedrich Merz (Germany), and Prime Minister Donald Tusk (Poland). Additionally, on August 31, coinciding with Romanian Language Day, Romanian President Nicusor Dan will also visit the Moldovan capital. His visit occurs during the ongoing electoral campaign ahead of the September 28 parliamentary elections.
Commenting on President Dan’s visit, Moldova’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, emphasized that it does not pose any issues related to the election process.
“As for the visit of President Nicusor Dan, President Sandu is not part of the parliamentary campaign, so everything is perfectly fine. There is no reason to suspect anything, although the opposition may try to exploit this,” said Popsoi, agerpres.ro reports.

He added that Moldova remains grateful to all international partners who support the country. “Romania has done so and continues to do so in a clear, sincere, selfless, and unconditional way. Even the recent private visit of President Nicușor Dan was very well received, widely covered, and highly anticipated. We are known for our proverbial hospitality, and whenever our friends and partners decide to come, we welcome them warmly,” the minister said.
The electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections will officially begin on August 29.
